Community Engagement
Whether your organization is looking to get a few dozen people engaged in a local advocacy initiative or hundreds to mobilize around a state or federal policy issue, having a community engagement plan can help you set realistic goals and "see" what it will take to find and motivate the people and allies you want to involve in your work.
I can help your organization create a community engagement plan to involve individuals, organizations, and/or local businesses in your initiative.
A FEW TIPS for running an effective community engagement program or project:
Know what you want people to do.
Know what will likely motivate them to do it (hint: it may not be the same thing that motivates you.)
Show them how their action or involvement is contributing to the community impact goal.
Engage supporters in planning and decision making related to the project.
Communicate with them throughout the project, not just when you need them to do something.
Get to know your supporters and use what you learn to help them succeed.
Provide a range of things for people to do.
Create opportunities for supporters to gather and get know each other.
Track your contact with them and the actions they take.
